Citizenship Proceedings

European roots. Rights regained.

We help Jews holding Israeli, American, or Canadian citizenship to regain a European citizenship that was taken from their ancestors through persecution, expulsion, and denaturalization. Where a family has demonstrable roots in Europe, a path back is often open today.

Our Focus: Germany, Poland, and Romania

At the heart of our work lies the restoration of German, Polish, and Romanian citizenship:

  • Germany: renaturalization under Article 116 (2) of the Basic Law (GG) for descendants of those denaturalized during the Nazi era, complemented by the entitlement grounds in the Nationality Act (StAG) expanded since 2021.
  • Poland: confirmation of the continued existence of Polish citizenship through descent from Polish citizens — even across several generations, as Polish citizenship is in principle passed down by descent.
  • Romania: restoration of Romanian citizenship under Article 11 of the Romanian Citizenship Act for former citizens and their descendants up to the third generation.

Advice, Research, and Proceedings from a Single Source

We advise comprehensively, examine each family’s individual starting position, and develop the appropriate legal pathway. In doing so, we combine our experience in genealogical research with legal case management — from reconstructing the line of descent to the final processing of the application. On the ground, we work with experienced partners in Warsaw and Bucharest who know the respective national procedures in detail.

A Privilege with a Future

Particularly in light of the global political situation, holding a European citizenship is a great privilege — and far more than a travel document. It means security, freedom of movement, and the right to live, work, and study throughout the EU. For the next generation, it opens opportunities such as access to European universities, often at significantly lower tuition fees, and an additional safeguard for the future.
